“WordPress for Small Business Owners” Meetup Format:

We will have one presenter covering basic, intermediate and advanced WordPress topics. The session will last approx. 90 minutes, with 15 minutes of questions and answers. Networking before and after along with general Q&A and help requests.

March 2011 “100 Things you Need to Know About WordPress”

On March 30th, Anthony Montalbano and John Pratt gave a presentation to WordPress Ann Arbor about WordPress Best Practices called “100 Things you Need to Know About WordPress”. Anthony and John broke down the discussion in 10 slides on different topics. Anthony presented 5 (50 things) and John presented 5 (50 things). Anthony and John told the WPA2  group that they would post them on their blog(s) (one per day) to give a more detailed resource and account for all to benefit.

Now you can use WordPress to create a list of subscribers to send SMS text message updates to! This is perfect for membership web sites, non-profits, small businesses, an organization, performing group – or anyone wanting to stay in touch with their fans, followers, or customers.

The WordPress Text Message plugin allows visitors to submit their cell phone number in a sidebar widget, to signup for an SMS text notification list. The website owner can then send out SMS text messages to all subscribers at once. If the sidebar widget isn’t used, you can still add people add subscribers from the plugin settings in dashboard admin. This feature is available for businesses who collect cell phone numbers via traditional methods, such as contests, paper forms, sign-up forms, etc.
